Early this year, it was reported that a Sonic the Hedgehog movie was in development by Sony Pictures, set to release in 2018. The movie will be a mix of Live-action, as well as CGI. This information was confirmed by the CEO of Sega, Hajime Satomi, during an interview with “The World Folio” back in February.
All has been silent since…
In an exclusive interview from “The Hollywood Reporter” , the producers, writers, and directors of the upcoming Sonic movie were unveiled.
The film will be produced by Tim Miller (director of Deadpool) and Jeff Fowler (director and writer for Gopher Broke),
Directed by Jeff Fowler alongside Neal H. Moritz (Producer of The Fast and the Furious),
and written by Patrick Casey (writer of Dorm Daze) and Josh Miller (also writer of Dorm Daze).
It’s an interesting choice of crew to say the least. They are all very talented at movie creation, but they are most known for adult oriented films, many R rated. The Sonic The Hedgehog movie is planned to be a family friendly movie. I however, would not be surprised if it was given a PG-13 rating.
What are your thoughts on “The Blue Blur” getting its own theatrical flick? Do you think its possible that the very first good Video game movie could be achieved by Sega and Sony?
Just two years till we find out, but at least we have “Sonic Mania” and “Project Sonic 2017” to keep us occupied meanwhile.
